This watercolor is part of the project "100 encounters in watercolor", in which I am based on photographs of my own encounters with animals, among other themes.
Based on a photograph of a Barn Owl in Itirapina-SP.
 
The Barn Owl is widely distributed in the Americas and specializes in catching rodents. They live in caves, barn roofs, buildings and church towers, hence one of its popular names.
The owl pictured lived on the roof of an abandoned inn, where I was able to photograph a few times.
 
The watercolor has special effects thanks to the excessive use of water and also a little bit of salt, which helped create the textures of its wings and branch.
